about us
Our Mission
We value and celebrate the intersections of every single person who engages meaningfully in the community of Belper.
We believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to challenge discrimination within our community and society, and it is not okay to be a bystander. We do not accept any form of behaviour or language which seeks to harm minority groups and activate hate.
Our Vision
We can all make a difference in this community and we can all role model change. We ask that each and every one of us actively stands by every person who identifies as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, because sexuality and gender identity are part of everyone’s life and it takes courage to be the person you know you really are.
Our Values
Pride in Belper is developed under four pillars: sustainability, accessibility, inclusivity and diversity.
Sustainability:
A sustainable future where our community can thrive.
At Pride in Belper, we are committed to working towards a sustainable future that benefits everyone in our community. We implement environmentally responsible practices in all our activities, ensuring that our community can thrive in a healthy, sustainable environment. We actively challenge any actions or behaviours that threaten our collective wellbeing and the future of our planet.
Accessibility:
An accessible community where everyone can participate fully.
We strive to make all our events and activities accessible to everyone, removing physical, economic, and social barriers. We are dedicated to providing necessary accommodations and support so that every community member can participate fully. We stand against any form of discrimination or exclusion that hinders accessibility, actively challenging prejudiced attitudes and behaviours.
Inclusivity:
An inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
Inclusivity is at the heart of Pride in Belper. We embrace and celebrate the unique identities and experiences of all individuals, ensuring that everyone feels valued and respected. We create a welcoming and safe environment for all, actively challenging hate and intolerance in all its forms to ensure that no one is marginalised or excluded.
Diversity:
A diverse community where differences are celebrated.
We recognise and celebrate the rich diversity within our community. Our commitment to diversity means promoting an environment where different cultures, perspectives, and identities are celebrated. We challenge any form of hate or discrimination that undermines the diversity of our community, ensuring that everyone feels they belong and are respected.
